Why isn’t Betsy Price worried about loss of weekly Stockyards rodeos?
I’m happy to count the ways
Richard Greene doesn’t understand why any rational person would want to see President Donald Trump prosecuted. (Dec. 15, 5A, “Texas Republicans know that Trump impeachment is a sham”)
Let me explain: Rational Americans believe that a good economy does not justify supporting a president who puts immigrant children in concentration camps, calls critics “human scum,” tells more than 13,000 lies and bribes an ally for political dirt on an opponent.
What I don’t understand is how Greene and Republicans in lockstep behind Trump can continue to defend him.

Stockyards need weekly rodeos
It’s rare that I agree with former City Councilman Jim Lane, and rarer still with Bud Kennedy. But I find myself agreeing on the importance of a weekly Stockyards rodeo. (Dec. 15, 1B, “As Cowtown Coliseum changes hands, rodeos at Stockyards at risk”)
These rodeos are vital to the Stockyards’ success. I am disappointed Mayor Betsy Price doesn’t seem fazed by this loss.

Don’t let this school rivalry die
It is disappointing that Texas Christian University has apparently chosen to discontinue playing Southern Methodist University in basketball. It’s only an hour bus ride between the schools. The alumni want it, and it is good for the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Traditions and rivalries are important. As Texas and Texas A&M have learned, it is hard to restart something once it ends.

Easy way to avoid the bad news
A response to the author of a Tuesday letter to the editor (11A): If you are tired of hearing bad things about President Donald Trump, well, the rest of us are tired of having a bad man for president. Please do not vote for people who do bad things if you do not want to hear about them.

An assault from two political sides
The Constitution’s provision for impeachment ensured that no one would be above the law, including the president. It was also meant to help our republic endure.
But now, our nation is under attack by all the Democratic candidates for president, who are promoting socialism. Our republic can only be maintained if we avoid that.
- Larry P. French, Granbury
Constitution, not the parties
Before a citizen becomes a Republican, Democrat or independent, he or she should first be an American. Every member of the military, federal judges, members of Congress and even the president take oaths to defend the Constitution. President Donald Trump has not lived up to his.
Members of Congress should abide by their oaths, too, and if Republicans are so afraid of Trump’s wrath that they do not vote as Americans first, we must vote them out of office. Let’s see who has the guts to do the right thing and who just wants to keep his or her job.

Just smearing Trump’s credibility
Taxpayers’ money is going down the sewer. Ever since President Donald Trump took office, the Democrats’ main objective has been to impeach him. Their obsession has cost millions of dollars.
It’s time for the Democrats to let their hatred go and accomplish something to improve our lives: reducing health-care costs, poverty, immigration and crime. They should have to repay all the taxpayer dollars wasted on trying to destroy Trump’s credibility.
