Cheers: To the Fort Worth Symphony for bringing “Holiday Swing with Byron Stripling” to town. Jeers, though, to the Will Rogers Memorial Center. The parking, entryway and lighting to the auditorium did not make the venue very accessible for the disabled.

- Letha Grace McCoy, Burleson

Cheers: To the choir and orchestra of Southcliff Baptist Church for its “Joy — The Singing Christmas Tree” presentation. The musical holiday performance was fantastic and put everyone attending in the Christmas spirit.

- Richard Sybesma, Fort Worth

Cheers: To Texas Department of Public Safety Lake Worth officer who gave a stuffed unicorn to a likely underprivileged little girl. He told her it needed a home. Her smile was sunshine.

- Jenine Doogs, Fort Worth

Cheers: To Birchman Baptist Church in west Fort Worth for its phenomenal Christmas program. It was a generous gift to all its neighbors. Anyone driving by could see a trailer that said “Dromedary Hitch — America’s Show Camels,” and that got everyone’s attention. How about a donkey, a flock of sheep, a beautiful white horse and stilt walkers in the sanctuary?

- Chan Chilstrom, Fort Worth

Cheers: To Santa’s helpers, Hector and Shelly, in the Hurst mayor’s office. My husband, Jim, and I decorate and entertain extensively for Christmas. The garbage collectors did not pick up 30 bags of leaves in our front yard, but Hector and Shelly took care of it.

- Sandy Russell, Hurst

Cheers: To everyone who donated money or volunteered their time for Wreaths Across America. All 40,000-plus graves were honored.

- Cyndi Evans, Hurst

Cheers: To all the volunteers who helped lay wreaths at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery and to all who thanked me for my service when they saw my “Combat Veteran-Vietnam” cap.

- Roger Owens, Azle

Jeers: To the Star-Telegram sports department for apparently forgetting to mention that Stanford beat the University of Pacific in the NCAA men’s water polo championship game.

- Chuck Burr, Benbrook

Cheers: To Jonathan Hoskins, who has retired after 18 years as a distributor of the Star-Telegram. I appreciate all your efforts to provide me with the morning paper each day.

- Wiley Curtis, Arlington

Cheers: To Kubes Jewelers in Fort Worth. They polished and shined my father’s World War II second lieutenant bars for no charge so he could pin them on his grandson when he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and was commissioned into the Marines.

- Lisa Brown, Mansfield

Cheers: To the nice man who walks his beautiful German shepherd, who is so well trained on a leash, as the man picks up trash in the Hilltop Heights section of Benbrook.

- Frances Covington, Benbrook

Cheers: To the three young diners at River Oaks Cafe who bought our breakfast one recent Sunday. It was very nice of them, and we will pay it forward.

- Bill J. Melton, Fort Worth
