Cheers for Fort Worth libraries, and jeers for media providers

Cheers: To the city of Fort Worth for reallocating funds so our libraries again have extended hours in the evenings six days a week, and seven days downtown and at the Southwest Regional branch. This makes information, education and recreation available to all in our great city.

Pat Stevens,

Fort Worth

Cheers: To Dr. Benjamin L. Bowers at USMD Hospital at Arlington for his excellent surgical skills and knowledge in removing the stage 3 colon cancer out of my body. A year later and nine chemo treatments later, I’m healthy. God is good.

Audrey Johnson,

Mansfield

Jeers: To the Tarrant Appraisal District, which is impossible to contact. Its website times out each time I hit the “submit” button for a question. The phone menu for exemptions is faulty and ends with, “I did not understand that response,” without me saying anything. I give up.

Ernest (Woody) Harrison,

Keller

Cheers: To attorneys Victoria Weaver and Richard Johnson at the firm of Marx, Altman & Johnson. Their excellent counsel, follow-up and reasonable fees throughout my divorce proceedings far exceeded my expectations. They were very professional.

Dennis J. La Jambe,

Fort Worth

Cheers: To the person who blew his or her car horn on March 1 between 3 and 3:20 p.m. on the service road and prevented an accident when a brown delivery truck came into my left lane. I guess the driver didn’t look first. Thank you so much for saving my life.

Emma Niekamp,

Hurst

Jeers: To the motorists who think the 3400-3900 blocks of White Settlement Road are Fort Worth’s newest 24-hour motorcycle and car racetrack — not. Real people live on this road. They have real houses and want to turn into real driveways to get to their homes without someone riding up on their back bumpers. Consideration would be nice.

Rita Owens,

Fort Worth

Cheers: To a fine lady. My wife and I are in our mid-80s. We tried to get into several restaurants without success before finally going to Red Robin, where we split a meal. After giving our server cash for our dinner and a good tip, he told us that a nice lady had already paid our check. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.

We did not know the lady, but we thank you and will pass it forward. Thank you and be blessed.

Jim and Betty Adams,

Arlington

Cheers: To Tuesday L. Peacock for the April 27 “Jeer” regarding being single these days. (11A) It hit the nail on the head. Phone companies don’t understand that I need only one phone, and TV providers are aghast I have only one TV. No discount for you, or you have to change providers for different services.

Does customer loyalty mean anything? As a single consumer, I pay full price, and that is just not fair.

Susan Eurto,

Fort Worth

Cheers: To Kim Malone of the Burleson Lions Club and the Fourth of July parade-planning group. This is a great opportunity for Burleson, with a population of 50,000, to promote our stars and stripes. For more information on sponsorships, call Ms. Malone at 817-718-6343.

Hank Hoaldridge,

Burleson

Cheers: To The Lakes of Somerset residents and their friends who pulled my Rogue out of the mud after it got stuck. It took several good Samaritans, and I thank you all.

Mary Crockett,

Bedford
