Jungus Jordan the right choice for Fort Worth City Council
Quit complaining about ‘the rich’
A letter writer April 26 repeated the usual Democratic Party line complaining about the tax cut as being a blatant giveaway to “the rich.” Exactly how is taking less of someone’s money a “giveaway”?
Democrats apparently have this twisted idea that the government really owns all our money and that if it decides to take less of it, then that is “giving” us some.
And Democrats seem to want to call anyone “rich” who they think can finance their “free stuff” programs — which are the real giveaways.

The wrong pick on Jungus Jordan
How the Star-Telegram editorial board made the decision concerning the City Council District 6 race is a mystery to me. (April 18, 19A, “Fort Worth May 4 election: Here’s who we recommend for City Council”)
Apparently, board members never talked with members of the many neighborhood associations in the district. The old saying, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it,” fits here.
I would like to know who the “voiceless” are. Jungus Jordan is and has been available any time. He freely offers his personal telephone number to his constituents. He is independent and has vast experience with the fast-growing southwest side of Fort Worth.
Electing Jungus’ opponent would not be, in the words of the editorial, “a welcome change.”

Jordan has experience we need
From the time Jungus Jordan became councilman for District 6, he has worked tirelessly for residents and businesses by listening to their concerns and following through. He’s kept in touch by attending homeowners associations’ annual meetings and having quarterly “Java with Jungus” forums.
These forums not only provide information about District 6, but give individuals and HOA representatives the opportunity to bring issues to him. He listens and responds at the time, or researches the issue and provides feedback.
Jordan was instrumental in getting the Chisholm Trail Parkway implemented and, with the explosion of homes and businesses along the toll road, he works closely with developers. He provides updates at his coffees and has representatives from developments come and provide information.
It’s important we keep Jordan as our councilman. He knows city government and what is happening in this district.
Exercise your right by voting in the upcoming election.

Our faiths should unite us
My heart is broken over all the violence brought on by how we understand our faith. Many groups want people to believe they are the chosen of God and can do as they please — even killing others because of that belief.
This is all brought on by radical misunderstanding of our faith traditions, often taught by those who should know better.
In the Hebrew/Christian scriptures, Abraham is the parent of the Jewish faith with his wife, Sarah. Christians claim to be part of that line. Muslims are part of Abraham’s family line through Hagar and her son Ismael.
The scripture that we three groups claim, in the very first chapter of our holy books, says God created humans in God’s own image. When we don’t claim that heritage for the whole human family, we are not following the God that scripture defines for us.
My hope is for a world where every one of God’s children is loved as God loves us.
