Leaf blowers are a noisy nuisance. Who needs them?
A symbol of our nation’s enemy
Many people condemn those who kneel during the national anthem as disrespectful to veterans yet support those who display the flag of a sworn enemy.
Too many people fly the Confederate battle flag with pride, even though it represents a country that killed many Union soldiers. If that’s not disrespect to soldiers who gave their lives on this soil to preserve the United States of America, please tell me what is.

Get those noisy things out
I agree with everyone who has said that leaf blowers should be banned.

We need a little more nuance
As an Army retiree, I am offended not by people kneeling in protest, but by the misguided criticism of the protesters.
Their protest is directed at injustice, not the flag or the military. I thought conservatives were all about the First Amendment’s right to free speech.
Socialism? Do you like public schools, public roads, libraries and Medicare? Those things could be called “socialism,” as good governments provide benefits to citizens. There are levels and varieties of socialism, and it is not always evil.
We can debate those levels, but blanket statements and labels show ignorance and pure partisanship.

Time to drown out the offense
I remember once upon a time that entire stadiums filled with people sang the national anthem before games. Now, the silence is deafening. What is wrong?
The best way to address protests during the anthem is to sing along when given the chance, whatever the event.

A chamber of total dysfunction
Regarding the recent Senate hearings on Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court, the snide observation an irreverent anonymous wit once made would seem to tell it like it is:
“Congress is where a man gets up to speak, says nothing, nobody listens — then everybody disagrees.”

Take a good, hard Senate look
Why doesn’t the FBI investigate every member of the U.S. Senate — Republican and Democrat — all the way back to their high school days?
We probably would not have a senator left.

Singing a different tune then?
There have been many letters to the editor urging everyone to support this president, saying it’s good for the country to do so. I wonder: Is that what they were saying during the eight years of President Barack Obama’s administration?

Trump deserves much more credit
The Democrats are totally out of control.
If you can’t list the good President Donald Trump is doing, you don’t need to be reporting.
Both sides need to be published.

Consider the real record
You should be thanking President Barack Obama for the economy, jobs, the most deported illegal immigrants and the best Gross Domestic Product in years.
All Donald Trump has accomplished is tax cuts for the rich.
Democrats have stood for eight-hour workdays, voting rights, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.
