For Bedford mayor

In Bedford, we’ve seen city council candidates come and go, but Mayor Jim Griffin has devoted his long-term efforts toward improving our city. For him, working on the council and leading Bedford is not an ego thing or a single-issue flash in the pan.

Aside from his council experience and work to bring new businesses to Bedford, Jim has supported the city’s progress at many levels, from 6 Stones, serving on the board of the HEB Chamber and presiding over the Mid-Cities Basketball Association to mentoring students at Trinity High School.

Jim’s commitment to our community is uncompromising and undying. That is why I am proud to cast my vote May 9 toward electing Jim Griffin to a second term.

— David Franklin, Bedford

A thief is sneaking around at night stealing campaign signs that say, “Elect Darryl Day for Bedford Mayor” from our yard and our neighbors’ supporting Darryl Day.

Shame on you.

— June Gravley, Bedford

Place 6 in Hurst

I’ve lived in Hurst for all of my 49 years. As a conservative, I value the limited role of government and personal freedom, applicable at every level of government.

Limited government must live within its means. Place 6 Councilman Henry Wilson is part of a tax, borrow and spend culture that has put our city nearly $96 million in debt.

When the city abused eminent domain powers, forcing 127 families from their homes to expand a mall, Wilson supported it.

Also, Wilson sued the state of Texas in a failed effort to have the Texas Open Meetings Act thrown out.

Challenger Joel Downs is not an extremist, but a conservative who offers positive change, a course correction to conservative values that reflect the majority of the Hurst residents. Downs will work to reduce the deficit, fight eminent domain abuse and support greater transparency in our city government.

— James Scott Trimm,

Hurst
