Bob Ray and racism

After reading Bob Ray Sanders’ take on racism in the March 14 edition, I’m left with one question. How can anyone take him seriously?

He works in an industry that sells hate in exchange for advertising dollars. He sings the praises of President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder, whose views have set America’s race relations back 50 years.

Somehow Bob Ray and the mainstream media believe that murder, attempted murder, looting and bodily harm go hand in hand with protesting!

If it weren’t so sad, it would be comical how you purveyors of hate take no responsibility in the cowardly attacks on store owners and the police, but instead justify yourselves by saying you’re just reporting the news.

Careless cyclists

As we continue to see reminders that bicycle riders have equal, legal access to the roadways, I’m still outraged by the few who cast a negative light on all riders.

I drive on Bryant Irvin Road daily, and again on a recent Friday I saw a rider totally disregard the red traffic light at the Trinity Valley School entrance. Also, riders on Bellaire Drive continue to run stop signs on a daily basis.

As a driver, it’s hard for me to have any sympathy for these fools when they want their share of the road.

When I see an article about a bicyclist who is killed or injured, it makes me wonder if the rider met an unfortunate accident, or was the cause of the accident.

Hypocrisy in lobbying

Can you spell hypocrite?

Peggy Venable wrote a March 18 column about lobbyists paid by us, the taxpayers.

She represents a group called Americans for Prosperity, which lobbies for the rich all over the country.

Of course she wants to outlaw our lobbyists to make it easier for her kind to do their lobbying.

I urge everyone to research those people and see if you agree with her.

Appropriate acronym

The Republic of Texas organization certainly has an appropriate acronym: ROT.

I never heard such rot in all my life.

These guys are simply a variant on the sovereign citizen movement. Basing their movement on a complete lie, they evade their lawful taxes and clumsily attempt to get something for nothing through frivolous lawsuits, fraud and outright theft.

ROT would be laughed to scorn if it were not so pathetic. If the state of Texas made an even sub-par effort to teach civics, U.S. government and the U.S. Constitution K-12, we might not have so many of these nincompoops to deal with. But God forbid we spend any money on education.
