Medal of Honor; Netanyahu’s speech

Medal of Honor

Rep. Roger Williams stated he supports awarding Chris Kyle the Medal of Honor.

He says Kyle is a hero.

Maybe so. However, so are a lot of Americans.

The MOH is awarded for specific criteria which do not fit Kyle.

He was certainly a brave combat vet and a good man. America can be proud that we had him in our military.

I think well-meaning congressmen, most of whom have no military experience, should allow the military to take care of award nominations.

These awards are sacred to our fighting men and are cheapened by handing them out like candy.

Netanyahu’s speech

With the pending speech by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Washington leaders have a chance to show the world we are united with one of our most important allies.

The president could have led by example and simply stated although he would have liked the speaker of the House to have consulted him on the invitation and despite the differences between the political parties, we should embrace the prime minister’s visit and listen to his concerns. Wework to protect democratic nations from nuclear threats and groups such as ISIS that are trying to systematically eliminate Christians, Jews and Muslims who believe in peace and love.

The president’s lack of leadership and those Democratic congressmen who want to protest the speech are showing their concern is more about personal pride and school-yard bullying than being leaders and putting security first.
