Keep Constitution; media bias; Trump bankruptcies; focus on issues; creation ‘science’; musicians’ strike
Keep Constitution
I see that people like Gov. Greg Abbott and state Rep. Stephanie Klick, R-Fort Worth, want to organize a constitutional convention to rid themselves of “federal overreach.”
I assume that what they really want is to get rid of the federal oversight, which is the only thing that stands between Texas citizens and the kind of tea-ocracy and governance by evangelical Sharia that these two long for.
We should leave our Constitution alone and just get rid of Abbott and Klick.

Media bias
I have never seen so much media bias.
If you are one of the unfortunate ones to watch CNN, you would immediately see they keep track of Hillary Clinton. One would think CNN is on Clinton’s payroll.
Some of the other media outlets are just as biased.
Enter Fox News. I will admit that Fox leans a little to the right, but they do make an effort to cover the left candidate also.
I wonder what has happened to real journalism.

Trump bankruptcies
Richard Greene states that Donald Trump had a stellar career in “developing successful businesses, creating jobs and meeting payrolls.” (“Beyond all the debate nuance, there was substance,” Sunday)
He neglects to inform his readers that Trump has had six major bankruptcies and stiffed many small contractors out of money owed to them.
What a guy!
If Trump is your guy, God save Texas!

Focus on issues
It seems that the real issues facing our nation have been pushed to the back by the Hillary Clinton campaign and not properly brought to the front by Donald Trump.
Why would anyone want to double down on the present administration’s policies?
Our healthcare system, once the best in the world, is approaching collapse as the socialistic Obamacare system falters.
Trade, jobs, national security, eroding constitutional values and an unmanageable national debt threaten our nation's future.
Let’s focus on the issues versus the candidates’ character flaws.
Put America first — politics last!

Creation ‘science’
I got a chuckle out of the following excerpt: “A more proper term is creation science. This science is based on the belief that God created the universe…” (Sunday letters)
So we have a science that starts with the answer, and then, I guess, seeks out supporting data. I suggest that is not science (the study of empirical data that leads to conclusions) and is, instead, religion (a belief founded on … whatever).
Indeed, creation science is properly filed under the heading “junk science,” and its practitioners are certainly engaging in “anti-evolution nonsense.”
Our kids deserve a real education and not a junk education.

Musicians’ strike
It appears that it’s time for the musicians of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, who are currently on strike, to realize that the concerts that they play appeal to only a very small group of people. The concert revenues may never again be great enough to pay the musicians what they feel is adequate compensation.
It may be time for the FWSO musicians to consider a new, full-time job to earn a living and to keep music as an avocation, not a vocation.
