Beware Trump

I have been following the presidential campaign closely and have come to the conclusion that a Trump win will create more of a racial divide and hatred toward immigrants and minorities.

Trump will say and do anything at this point to get minority votes, but hopefully the minority community will see beyond his lies.

Clinton wrong

Hillary Clinton insists that we can’t blame a religion for the terrorism we’re experiencing. However, those of that religion are responsible for the bombings and murders all over the Mideast.

That in turn, causes the flood of refugees, many of whom Obama and Clinton are welcoming into the U.S.!

Refugee aid

I think the implied threat was misidentified in Sunday’s editorial (“Cost may be high if Texas quits refugee program”).

Gov. Abbott made no threat. He simply stated Texas was not going to participate.

The threat was issued by the Tarrant County health director when he warned about “significant adverse impact for public health” would result.

The editorial reinforced the threat in saying: “Abbott would do well to reconsider.”

Judith E. Hedges, Arlington

Obey police

We must teach people how to react to a police officer’s orders, whatever the situation.

You must do exactly what you are ordered to do without any hesitation. If you don’t, the officer has to consider you a threat to his own life.

Why don’t we hear more discussion about what to do or not to do when stopped by the police?

This should be taught over and over in high schools and church. All parents should talk about this with their children.

Musicians’ strike

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra is blessed with musicians, some of whom grew up locally, others who came from Europe or Asia. All have a common vision of being part of something great.

Each of them has been on a long journey to get where they are. For most, it started with music at a young age, attending at least six years of university or conservatory and borrowing or saving to purchase a very expensive professional instrument.

Every day, they practice several hours, because rehearsals are not for learning the music but for making masterpieces come alive. The incredible concert season we heard last year, in which every concert was better than the last and each was pure joy, was their vision alive.

What is the Fort Worth community vision, driving to Dallas? I hope not.

We must find a way to grow the vision and sound of beautiful music in our own community.
