Muslim on 9/11

Our nation commemorates the 15th anniversary of 9/11 this weekend. How far have we come since that tragedy?

The terrorists succeeded in forcing us to live in fear, dividing us and tearing us apart.

One of the deeply affected groups has been Muslim Americans.

We have been stigmatized and our faith has been slandered and distorted because a few Muslim mutants attacked our country and values under the cloak of the religion of Islam.

On this 15th anniversary, we carry the burden of guilt by association and the deadlock of living our religious tradition as we have been taught by Father Abraham.

Yes, Abraham is our ancestor whose two sons, Ishmael and Isaac, are the fathers of Islam, Christianity and Judaism.

One of our religious holidays, Eid-ul-Adha, commemorating the bravery and sacrifice of Abraham, falls on Sept. 12 this year.

Hopefully, our prayers will share some peace with the rest of our nation.

TCU internship

Texas Christian University is offering an internship program at Planned Parenthood to do a history project highlighting this controversial organization in return for school credit.

Certainly this history is well known and needs no further study.

We strongly urge Chancellor Victor Boschini and the board members at TCU as a Christian university to distance themselves from any association with Planned Parenthood.

For years we have supported TCU with pride. Do not ruin your reputation and take away our pride and our support.

Jo Ann Byrne, Arlington

TCU students should be able to intern on a project with Planned Parenthood. It is an organization that has helped many people (especially women) who cannot and do not have their own healthcare.

FW Symphony

I was excited about donating on North Texas Giving Day (Sept. 22) to the Fort Worth Symphony, but must instead give my money to an organization that is more honest, better organized and transparent.
