Retiring? Weatherford is a great place for that

Looking for a great city to retire in? Weatherford has you covered.

Southern Living magazine ranked the best places to retire. Now, the best places seem to be historically quaint areas equally distant from nature and city life.

Only one Texas city made the list, but a fitting one for the title.

The magazine named Weatherford the second-best place to retire, beating more traditional cities like Venice, Fla., and Augusta, Ga. The top spot went to Fairhope, Ala.

“If ranches, small-town streets and open spaces are your ideas of paradise,” Weatherford is for you, Southern Living wrote.

The magazine also gushes about the cutting horse industry, low cost of living and lack of a state income tax as added bonuses.

“Seniors and the next generation have expendable income, and their heritage and our growth add to Weatherford’s quality of life in many ways,” Dennis Clayton, director of the economic development authority, told the Star-Telegram.

Congratulations to Weatherford.
