Good health should be an important goal for everyone.

That is the message that the Hispanic Wellness Coalition wants to convey to local residents as it prepares to hold its 18th annual wellness fair this weekend.

In an effort to be more inclusive, the coalition changed the event’s name from Hispanic Wellness Fair to North Texas Wellness Fair.

Originally intended to serve Tarrant County’s underserved Hispanic population, the fair has always been open to all residents.

But each year, its offices received calls from non-Hispanic residents wanting to attend the event.

As the name changes, the goal remains the same: to assist as many people as possible with much needed access to free screenings and health resources.

The event is free and offers an impressive variety of medical services, from school physicals for children to diabetes and cholesterol screenings for adults.

The North Texas Wellness Fair is from 8 a.m to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Forest Hill Civic and Convention Center.
