Bring your academic wealth to Texas
With the help of Gov. Greg Abbott, universities are bringing heavy-hitter researchers to Texas.
The Governor’s University Research Initiative started in 2015, with the goal of luring more distinguished researchers to Texas universities.
The first crop, 10 nationally recognized researchers, will join Texas A&M University, the University of Texas at Austin and University of Houston this fall.
The program matches grants to help institutions snag these researchers. All are members of national honorific societies.
We always welcome top-notch researchers, ones that could bring Texas more attention in academia. We want the word to get out about our great universities and their research facilities.
We just hope that the next batch of “best and brightest researchers” will be recruited by other Texas universities, ones like the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of North Texas.
We want the academic wealth spread across Texas, showcasing all our higher education system has to offer.
