Pokemon Go, the insanely popular smartphone game, has players walking everywhere to “catch” pokemon. The more they explore, the more they find.

When wandering, keep a few things in mind for the best experience.

Be aware of your surroundings: When trying to catch that Pikachu, take a second to check for pedestrians, cars and animals. No Pokemon is worth injury.

Don’t play and drive: Just don’t.

Go explore: Virtual markers, called Pokestops, are usually near things like public art, landmarks or churches.

Don’t trespass: Most Pokestops can be reached publicly, but if it requires you to commit a misdemeanor to get it, skip it. Same goes for pokemon.

Also, respect park hours. You could court a fine if you don’t.

Say hi to your fellow trainer: They are everywhere, and most of them have been great. Even some businesses have gotten into the fun, using items to attract pokemon and foot traffic.

Show respect: Though cemeteries have Pokestops, please remember those place are for mourning and reflection.

Be courteous.
