The search for a new Tarrant County College chancellor has been narrowed to two finalists.

They are Eugene Giovannini, the founding president of a college in Arizona, and Barbara Kavalier, district president of Navarro College in Corsicana.

Both are fine candidates and have proven track records on providing leadership to colleges similar to TCC.

Well done, TCC, for narrowing the candidate pool and finding two possibles who could fill the shoes of the late Erma Johnson Hadley.

They will talk and answer questions at public forums at the beginning of June. TCC students, parents and curious community members can get too know them.

The new chancellor will need to understand the needs of Tarrant County residents seeking higher degrees. So go, ask questions and make sure your voice is heard when it comes to picking the new chancellor.

Forums are June 2 at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Trinity River Campus.

The board will pick one finalist June 9, TCC said in a news release.
