Arlington police create the right formation
Beyonce might have stirred up a lot of controversy, but Arlington police have decided not to listen.
Or maybe they are listening. It all depends on how you interpret the native Texan’s new song Formation and her performance at Super Bowl 50.
Police in some cities are offended and have decided not to work security for the singer’s concert tour.
The Arlington Police Association, Arlington Municipal Patrolman’s Association, Arlington African-American Police Officers Association and Amigos en Azul won’t boycott the planned May 9 concert at AT&T Stadium.
“Simply put, a formal boycott of working a concert would have zero effect on the concert giver,” APA president J.P. Mason said in a news statement. “And more of an effect on the citizens in attendance, citizens that we have taken an oath to protect, regardless of whatever personal beliefs they may or may not have towards us.”
Not boycotting the concert is a smart move for Arlington police, especially over something as subjective as artistic expression.
