Three more days for early voting in primaries
Voters in Tarrant County and statewide have three more days to vote early for Tuesday’s party primary elections.
Early voting polling places are scheduled to be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. through Friday. People who are in line at the scheduled closing usually get to vote.
Probably the best thing about early voting — other than exercising your democratic right to choose the people in your government — is that you can go to any open polling place.
The Tarrant County Elections Administration posts a list of those polling places online.
Don’t forget, you have to have an approved photo ID to vote. The easiest one for most people is a Texas driver’s license, but a Department of Public Safety ID, a handgun license, military ID card, a naturalization certificate or a passport also will do. Check the county website for more info.
Be aware that early voting sites can get pretty busy in the last few days of early voting.
From the start of early voting Feb. 16 through the end of the day Monday, some 48,344 people had cast early ballots in person in Tarrant County.
That number could easily double by the end of the day Friday, if past election trends hold true.
Early voting in 2008, when Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were battling for the Democratic nomination, holds the turnout record. More than 117,000 Tarrant County residents voted early in that year’s primaries.
