For once, “Stock Show weather” took the year off.

The forecast is for sunny days and 60-degree temperatures today and Saturday, perfect weather to break attendance records for the annual Stock Show & Rodeo.

More than a quarter of a million patrons came last weekend, including an all-time record 163,200 on Saturday, the busiest day in the show’s 120-year history.

Before Thursday, the total attendance rested at 1,026,600. That’s 14,000 patrons ahead of last year’s record pace.

The show ends Saturday night and takes Super Bowl Sunday off, so last Sunday’s attendance of 105,500 will go into the record book as the show’s busiest Sunday ever.

With new marketing and advertising this year and regional TV and radio news coverage, the Stock Show is on track to break the all-time high of 1.2 million-plus patrons.

This kind of support can only be heartening as Stock Show leaders look ahead to a new arena, expansion and future growth and success.
