Mayor Betsy Price could have gone out on a limb, but she played it safe and predicted that attendance at this year’s Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, Jan. 15-Feb. 6 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center, will again exceed 1 million.
The out-on-a-limb projection would have been to exceed last year’s 1.2 million visitors. Depending on weather conditions, it could happen.
Price made her prediction at Tuesday’s unveiling of $15.4 million in renovations to the Stock Show facilities at Will Rogers.
Cattle Barn 2 has been outfitted with improved lighting, ventilation and space for animals, plus a 120-seat viewing area for a new milking parlor, improved hallways and restrooms and wider walkways. It’s the prototype for renovations planned for Cattle Barns 1, 3 and 4.

There’s also a new 300-foot-long Tower Promenade between Cattle Barns 1 and 2 for easier pedestrian movement.
The city and the Stock Show partnered in the renovations. The big event starts next Friday.
