WNBA unfurls Dallas Wings in Arlington
The WNBA this week unveiled the name and logo of the newest professional sports team to call Arlington home. The name? The Dallas Wings. The logo? Pegasus unfurling striking blue and yellow wings.
An iconic image — for Dallas.
The team’s new home will be the University of Texas at Arlington’s College Park Center, right in the heart of Arlington, a city working hard to create its own brand outside of “well, it’s between Fort Worth and Dallas,” or “yeah, the city with that stadium.”
But no matter whether the branding of the team is geographically correct, the bigger picture is the benefit of having a pro women’s basketball team in Arlington.
Downtown businesses will get a boost from fans walking through their doors, and there’ll be more recognition for the state-of-the-art College Park Center.
Also, the Wings bring a new attraction and a focal point for high school and college basketball players.
These Wings will help Arlington’s economy fly.
