Roundup will aid students
On one remarkable day each summer, 25,000 people come to Will Rogers Memorial Center.
They come for help, and Tarrant County responds with school supplies for 10,000 children.
In a county where one in four children lives in poverty, the Back to School Roundup Aug. 20 is a chance to help children get the supplies, shots, healthcare and vision care they need.
If your family needs help, take note: Families must register in advance this year at one of 20 locations countywide.
Registration is a different day in each city or neighborhood. For example, families may sign up at 10 a.m. July 18 at the Haltom City library.
The next chance for Fort Worth families to register is at 10 a.m. July 22 at Stripling Middle School in west Fort Worth, or at 4:30 p.m. that day at the Tarrant County Resource Connection in southeast Fort Worth.
Families must show photo ID and a piece of mail or utility bill with a local address, and bring a paycheck stub or other records to show an income of not more than $31,000 for a family of four, for example.
If your family can help others, please consider a donation. A $50 gift provides a student school supplies, immunizations, health and vision care and a haircut.
