Here's who deserves your runoff vote
The final leg of the Texas primary elections is now being run. The two top candidates in March primary contests, where no one received a majority of votes, are now going head-to-head for their partys' nominations.
The Star-Telegram Editorial Board has screened candidates for key races on the ballots in the Tarrant County area. We believe the following candidates deserve your vote:
Democratic Race for Governor — Recommend Andrew White
Andrew White is the best Democrat to face Greg Abbott in the fall
Democratic Race for Congressional District 6 — Recommend Ruby Faye Woolridge
This Democrat would take your call in Congressional District 6
Republican Race for Congressional District 6 — It's a close call. We give the edge to J.K. "Jake" Ellzey.
A GOP independent could be a standout for the 6th Congressional District
Republican Race for Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector — Wendy Burgess
Burgess as Tarrant tax assessor would focus on job, not politics
Early voting for the May 22 runoff elections kicked off Monday, May 14, and will extend through May 18. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
