Fun week ahead at museum
If you have ever wanted to dissect a machine to see what makes it work, tinker with hydraulics for the fun of it or build a catapult and launch something, head to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History next week.
Beginning Tuesday, the museum will offer five days of fun-filled and educationally stimulating activities exploring the world of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
It is all part of the annual observance of Engineers Week, designed to call attention to the contributions of engineers to society and to encourage students to focus on the multitude of STEM careers.
There will be plenty of activities through Feb. 28 where students and families can take part, including a day focused on girls and engineering and an afternoon devoted to activities for home-schoolers.
With the help of sponsors like Lockheed Martin, IBM and Mouser Electronics, students and other guests will have an abundance of hands-on, interactive experiences with things like a flight simulator, chroma-key technology, electronics and semiconductors.
