President Trump?; GOP silence
President Trump?
Now that the Republican presidential nominee appears to be Donald Trump, it’s imperative he ask the rest of the great field of candidates who opposed him in the primaries to consider working in his administration.
For example, Gov. John Kasich, who had great success in balancing our national budget, dealing with foreign affairs and running the state of Ohio, is most qualified to be Trump’s vice president.
Carly Fiorina, who has great experience dealing with foreign leaders, could be his secretary of state, and Ted Cruz, who has successfully tried cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, his first nominee to the Supreme Court.
Chris Christie, who has been a very successful prosecutor and governor, could be attorney general, and Ben Carson, one of the nation’s top neurosurgeons, Trump’s secretary of education or health and human services. And the list goes on.
If these distinguished people are willing to stump for Trump and join his administration, he should be unbeatable in the general election.
If Trump can hold his huge ego in check, be presidential and really listen to his peers’ advice, then and only then can we expect him to beat Hillary Clinton and be a good, or even a great, president.

GOP silence
What’s that eerie sound of silence I hear from the Republican right wing? You know the group. The ones who accuse President Obama of not taking strong enough action against ISIS. Well, wrong again.
A recent report from the Pentagon shows that the flow of foreign fighters into Iraq and Syria has dropped from roughly 2,000 a month to 200 within the past year. The article goes on to say that the declining number of fighters is a direct result of strikes that have targeted the terrorist group’s infrastructure.
This is extremely encouraging news, but don’t expect kudos from Donald Trump or Ted Cruz.
If they were to say anything, it would be that a 90 percent decrease in recruiting fighters is not enough and a sign of weakness. But even these guys know deep down this is great news.
Continue to expect that sound of silence.
