Set the rumors aside. It’s time to honor Kay Granger for all she has done for Fort Worth | Opinion
The recent reports and speculation surrounding Congresswoman Kay Granger’s health and absence from Washington are deeply concerning; but considering them without proper context does a great disservice to her decades of dedicated service to Fort Worth and our nation.
As someone who has worked closely with Granger and witnessed her tireless efforts firsthand, I feel compelled to address this situation.
Granger has been a trailblazer and a champion for Fort Worth throughout her illustrious career. As the first woman to serve as Fort Worth’s mayor and the first Republican woman to represent Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives, she has consistently broken barriers and paved the way for future generations of leaders.
Her contributions to our community and country are immeasurable; from her leadership on the House Appropriations Committee to her unwavering support for our military and defense industry, Granger has played a crucial role in maintaining Fort Worth’s position as America’s top defense industrial hub.
Her commitment to fiscal responsibility and national security has earned her numerous accolades and the respect of colleagues across the political spectrum.
I can personally attest to her remarkable clarity, sharp intellect, and continued dedication to public service.
I was honored to attend her House Appropriations Committee portrait dedication in November, where her colleagues celebrated her extraordinary legacy of leadership.
During this event, Granger was praised by Speaker Mike Johnson as “a champion for Texas and a faithful public servant for the people of the 12th District for nearly three decades.”
Her own words reflected her characteristic grace, stating that serving in Congress has been “the honor of a lifetime.”
The recent focus on Granger’s health challenges and her absence from Washington fails to acknowledge the incredible legacy she has built over nearly three decades of public service. It is important to remember that she has dedicated her life to serving the people of Fort Worth and our nation, often at great personal sacrifice.
While it is understandable that constituents may have concerns about representation, it is crucial to approach this situation with compassion and respect for Granger’s privacy and dignity. The rush to judgment and speculation about her condition does not honor the tremendous impact she has had on our community and country.
As Granger concludes her distinguished career in public service, we should focus on celebrating her numerous achievements and the positive changes she has brought to Fort Worth and beyond. Her legacy of fighting for our community and upholding conservative values will continue to inspire future leaders for years to come.
Let us remember Kay Granger for her strength, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the people she has served so faithfully throughout her career. Her contributions to Fort Worth and our nation deserve our utmost respect and gratitude.
