UPDATE: Tornado warning issued for Parker and Wise counties early Tuesday evening

At 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the NWS Fort Worth TX released an updated tornado warning in effect until 5 p.m. for Parker and Wise counties.

Golf-ball-sized hail (1.75 inches) is predicted with the incoming storm.

"At 4:29 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Paradise, or 9 miles south of Bridgeport, moving southeast at 30 mph," describes the NWS. "Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely."

Locations impacted by the warning include Azle, Briar, Reno, Springtown, Boyd, Paradise, Sanctuary, La Junta, Cottondale, Highland Addition and Keeter.

Recommended action: Seek shelter

The NWS adds, "Take cover now! Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris."

This warning is in effect until 5 p.m.

Ways to protect yourself during a tornado

According to the NWS, acting quickly is key to staying safe during a tornado. Continue to listen to local news or a NOAA Weather Radio to stay updated about tornado watches and warnings.

• If you are indoors: When a tornado warning is issued, go to your basement, safe room, or an interior room that lacks windows. Take your pets with you if time permits.
• If you are at your workplace or school: Follow your tornado drill and proceed to your tornado shelter location quickly and calmly. Stay away from windows and do not go to large open rooms such as cafeterias, gymnasiums, or auditoriums.
• If you are outside: Seek shelter inside a safe building immediately if a tornado is approaching. Sheds and storage facilities are not safe. Neither is a mobile home or tent.
• If you are in a vehicle: It is not safe to remain in a vehicle when a tornado strikes. The most appropriate action is to drive to the closest shelter available. If unable to reach a secure shelter, either crouch down in your car, covering your head, or abandon the vehicle and seek refuge in a low-lying area like a ditch or ravine.
