Multiple rounds of severe weather are expected in North Texas this week.

The first round of storms will approach the D-FW region on Tuesday, April 1, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Thunderstorms will develop along a dryline Tuesday afternoon, leading to better storm chances that evening as a cold front approaches.

Tuesday’s storms could be strong to severe with the main threats being large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes, according to the NWS.

General timing for the stormy weather is from 4 p.m. Tuesday to 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 2. Timing for severe weather will be from 6 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Storms to continue through the week

Storms will continue through Wednesday over the afternoon and evening hours.

Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop along and east of a stalled weather front boundary from Central Texas into the Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas border. The main threats with these storms are large hail and damaging winds, along with low tornado chances.

Storms will continue late Wednesday into early Thursday, April 3, with best chance for severe weather in the northernmost parts of the D-FW region, according to the NWS. The southern parts of the region will see isolated to strong storms over the same period.

The active weather pattern will continue later this week and into the weekend.

There are daily chances for strong to severe thunderstorms across the region later this week, although the NWS said it’s too early to “confidently narrow down timing.” As of now, it appears there could be severe weather overnight Thursday and Friday, April 4.

Along with the other weather threats, the NWS said there will be several days of heavy rain this week from Thursday night through Saturday, April 5. Rainfall totals could be between 3 to 4 inches from Tuesday through Saturday.

The NWS is asking North Texans to stay weather aware this week.
