Get ready, North Texans — warmer weather is on the way, after a bit more freezing temperatures Friday.

The cold will continue through the night of Friday, Feb. 21, but North Texas temperatures will start to rise starting Saturday, Feb. 22, according to the NWS Fort Worth forecast.

Friday night’s temperatures will drop below freezing in areas where skies are clear, mostly for folks along and north of Interstate 20. The D-FW area will go from 37 degrees during the day Friday to 27 degrees Friday night. Rain chances will start to move south, to Central Texas.

This past week’s weather set temperature records for North Texas. On the morning of Thursday, Feb. 20, the NWS weather station at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport recorded 12 degrees, which broke an 86-year-old climate record. Previously, the lowest temperature ever recorded on Feb. 20 was 19 degrees in 1939.
