Parts of North Texas under flood watch until Thursday. Here’s the latest on storms
Several North Texas counties, including Tarrant and Dallas, are under a flood watch until early Thursday, Jan. 30.
Heavy rain fell across much of the region Wednesday evening and is expected to continue overnight into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Rainfall amounts will range between 1 to 3 inches for much of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
There’s a 30% chance of rainfall totals reaching 5 to 7 inches in the northeastern part of North Texas, around Gainesville and Paris.
The NWS is asking residents to “turn around, don’t drown” if they encounter flooding roads. Minor river flooding is also possible along and east of Interstate 35.
Rain continues into Thursday
Storms will continue into the early Thursday.
Conditions should improve Thursday afternoon as rain moves out of the region, leading to clear skies overnight, according to the NWS. Daily temperatures Thursday will be in upper 60s.
Temperatures will begin increasing Friday, Jan. 31, and continue over the weekend into the mid-60s to upper 70s.
