Heavy rain is headed for Fort Worth. Here’s when to expect thunderstorms

Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are in the mix for North Texas on Wednesday, Jan. 29.

Rain chances will begin late Tuesday, Jan. 28, and increase overnight into Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Ahead of that, Tuesday will be cloudy with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Wednesday’s rain chances will increase throughout the day, giving way to showers and non-severe thunderstorms in the afternoon. No severe weather is expected with this round of activity, the NWS said.

Daily temperatures on Wednesday will be in the low 60s.

Rain continues Thursday

Storms will continue overnight Wednesday into early Thursday, Jan. 30.

A few strong to severe storms are possible during this stretch, which will also hold the heaviest rain for this weather event, according to the NWS. Rainfall totals from Tuesday through Thursday are expected to range from 1 to 3 inches, with 10% isolated coverage of 4 to 5 inches.

Rain will exit the region by late Thursday, leading to clear skies overnight into Friday, Jan. 31.

After the rainy midweek, sunny skies will be overhead over the weekend, according to the NWS. Daily highs will be in the mid-60s to mid-70s.
