Think all Fort Worth weather is alike? Thursday’s winter storm proves how much it can vary

Fort Worth is one city, so you’d think all of us who live here would experience roughly the same weather at the same time.

Not so.

It’s a big city - roughly 355 square miles. From Fort Worth’s northern most border to its southern most border is about 33 miles. From east to west, it’s about 36 miles.

At one point on the morning of Thursday, Jan. 9, it was raining in far southwest Fort Worth, but it was snowing hard in far north Fort Worth.

We asked a number of our newsroom employees to go out in their neighborhoods around the same time and take short videos to show the weather disparity. All the videos you see with this story were taken within 35 minutes of each other.

Some videos show snow falling and snow-covered ground, some show sleet-covered roads, and some show just plain rain and wet roads.

Indeed, all Fort Worth is not the same.
