A cold front could bring large hail and damaging winds to Dallas-Fort Worth this week.

Hunter Reeves, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service Fort Worth office, predicts that this week will begin with warm temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s on Monday, Oct. 28, and Tuesday, Oct. 29.

By Wednesday, Oct. 30, a cold front will make its way to North Texas.

Strong to severe thunderstorms will accompany the cold front on Wednesday.

Storm timing will be from Wednesday afternoon to early Thursday morning, with the biggest threats being damaging winds and large hail, Reeves said. The tornado threat is low but not zero.

Most of North Texas will see rain during the storms, although rainfall totals are likely to remain below an inch, Reeves said. Some areas could see two to three inches where heavier rainfall is falling, which could bring low chances of flash flooding.

Along with the stormy weather, the cold front will bring overnight lows in the 60s on Wednesday evening and highs in the 70s on Thursday, Oct. 31, Reeves said.
