Dallas-Fort Worth is in store for rain and cooler temperatures over the Labor Day weekend.

There’s a 40% chance of rain Friday with temperatures staying in the low 90s, said Jennifer Dunn, warning coordination meteorologist at the National Weather Service Fort Worth office.

Rain chances will increase to 60% on Saturday and Sunday, followed by a 50% chance Monday. Temperatures over the next few days will range from the upper 80s to low 90s.

The weekend storms will be scattered, which means some areas will see more rain than others, Dunn said.

Those hoping to get one last summer weekend on the lake before fall need to stay weather aware, Dunn said.

While severe weather is not expected, the NWS is tracking possible gusty winds and heavy downpours with the weekend storms. Those out on the water need to check their local forecast and keep an eye on the sky, Dunn said.

Beyond that, Labor Day weekend should be stormy and cool for much of North Texas.

“It’s pretty pleasant temperatures for the end of August,” Dunn said.
