Hurricane Debby makes landfall. How storm has impacted Dallas-Fort Worth travel
Hurricane Debby made landfall in Florida on Monday and is causing flight delays and cancellations across the country.
Debby arrivedin Northern Florida near the small town of Steinhatchee. The hurricane is expected to move north along the East Coast throughout the week, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Back in Dallas-Fort Worth, the region isn’t expecting any weather impacts from Debby, said Sarah Barnes, meteorologist at the National Weather Service Fort Worth office.
While North Texas won’t see any weather impact from Hurricane Debby, the storm is affecting flights out of the region.
According to FlightAware, which tracks flight information, on Monday Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport has around 196 delays and 72 cancellations as of 11:30 a.m.
At Dallas Love Field, the airport has seen 38 delays and 17 cancellations as of 11:30 a.m. Monday.
Florida-based airports in Orlando, Tampa and Miami are seeing some of the biggest delays in the country due to Hurricane Debby.
As Debby moves along the East Coast this week, historic heavy rainfall and flooding are possible for southeast Georgia and South Carolina. The National Hurricane Center is telling residents to stay weather-aware as the storm moves through over the next several days.
