Near record-breaking heat in the mix for Dallas-Fort Worth this week. How hot it will get
Dallas-Fort Worth is in for another scorcher this week, as temperatures are forecast to reach 105 degrees.
Temperatures on Monday will be around 99 degrees, leading way to triple digits for the rest of the week, said Sarah Barnes, meteorologist at the National Weather Service Fort Worth office.
Tuesday’s high will be about 102 degrees, but the hottest days of the week are expected to be on Wednesday and Thursday.
The highest temperature ever recorded for North Texas on Aug. 7 is 106 degrees back in 1988. The high on this coming Wednesday is expected to be 104 degrees, just below the record, Barnes said.
North Texas will again flirt with breaking temperature records on Thursday, with a high of 105 degrees. The highest temperature ever recorded on Aug. 8 is 107 degrees, also in 1988.
Triple-digit heat to continue this weekend
After a sweltering mid-week, temperatures will dip slightly going into the weekend.
Temperatures on Friday will be 102 degrees, followed by right around 100 degrees on Saturday and Sunday. A weak cold front is to thank for the slight break in temperatures, Barnes said.
The NWS isn’t expecting much in the form of showers and storms from the cold front, besides around a 10% chance.
“That’s pretty much all we’re looking at,” Barnes said.
