Strong storms possible tonight in North Texas with gusty winds, hail, weather service says
Stay on the lookout for the possibility of strong storms Tuesday night in North Texas.
Patricia Sanchez, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth said scattered storms could arrive in the Dallas-Fort Worth area overnight and into Wednesday morning.
Tuesday evening’s commute won’t be affected by bad weather, she said.
Sanchez said most of the storms will be along the Red River, but there is a 30% to 40% chance that the metroplex and North Texas could see large hail and damaging winds if storms develop.
“Storms will be scattered, and some won’t see any rain,” Sanchez said.
Sanchez urged people to stay weather aware and to have a way to get warnings and alerts on their cell phones or weather radios.
A cold front is coming
Looking ahead, more storms are possible Thursday night into Friday morning mainly along the Red River, and a cold front will arrive in North Texas Saturday night into Sunday morning with another chance of showers and thunderstorms, Sanchez said.
Sanchez said it’s too early to tell if storms will be severe, but cooler temperatures will arrive by Monday with highs in the mid 80s.
Sanchez added that the weather pattern is changing, and the area will see more rounds of storms with cooler temperatures.
“It’s not necessarily going to get super cold, but there will be a noticeable change,” she said.
