Storm chances expected in Dallas-Fort Worth area leading up to Memorial Day weekend

A chance of showers is expected this week leading up to Memorial Day weekend in the Fort Worth area.

The National Weather Service Hazardous Weather Outlook reports a complex of thunderstorms is expected to move into the Fort Worth area early Wednesday morning from the northwest. A few storms primarily west of Highway 281 may become strong to severe and contain damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, heavy rain and small hail.

Additional storm chances are expected Wednesday and Thursday night with areas west of I-35 having the highest chances for storms.

Partly sunny and partly cloudy conditions are forecast for the Dallas-Fort Worth area Wednesday through Friday with highs in the lower to mid 80s, lows in the mid 60s. A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms each day, according to the weather service.

Mostly sunny conditions are forecast for Saturday and Sunday with highs in the mid to upper 80s and lows in the mid to upper 60s.

Memorial Day weather will have partly sunny conditions with highs in the upper 80s and lows in the upper 60s. A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecast for the morning and in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
