More severe storms with hail forecast for North Texas on Thursday, weather service says
The threat of severe weather returns to some parts of North Texas on Thursday with the possibility of large hail and damaging winds, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop ahead of a dry line coming in from the west mid-to-late afternoon, according to NWS meteorologist Daniel Huckaby. Some of the storms may be severe with large hail and damaging winds, but Huckaby said the greatest threat is west of Dallas-Fort Worth. The storms will likely diminish as they move east.
The storms are expected to move toward the I-35 corridor and on into East Texas during the evening hours, according to the National Weather Service.
There is a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the Fort Worth area Thursday night. Friday will be mostly sunny, with a high of 91.
The weekend will be warm and humid with a chance of rain, according to Huckaby, but the chance for more severe weather is low.
