The threat of severe storms with large hail and damaging winds returns to North Texas on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

The storms are expected to develop directly over or just to the north of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, according to NWS meteorologist David Bonnette. The greatest threat will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., though Bonnette said there is a chance of isolated storms Thursday night.

The greatest storm threats are predicted to be large hail and damaging winds, and heavy rain could lead to flooding in some areas, Bonnette said. There is also a low potential for tornadoes.

For the most part, the storms should move to the south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area by Thursday night, Bonnette said.

There is a 30% chance of thunderstorms early Friday with a high of 74, according to the National Weather Service. Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high around 69.

There is a 20% chance of showers on Sunday with a high of 64.
