Rain, possible severe weather in forecast for North Texas Sunday night

Thundestorms developing to the west of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Sunday are forecast to move east, weakening along the way, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

A high wind advisory starts at 4 p.m. in North Texas, and will last until 2 a.m. Monday, with winds of 20 mph to 30 mph and peak gusts possible up to 50 mph. Storms that come into the area Sunday afternoon will weaken and become less severe as they move further east, though severe weather shouldn’t be counted out.

According to the weather service, storms should reach Fort Worth sometime between 9 p.m. and midnight. The highest potential for severe weather will be generally limited to areas west of Interstate 35 and north of Interstate 20.

More storms are possible Wednesday and Thursday, with the best chances of rain looking to be Thursday. Strong storms are possible, but the chances of severe weather won’t be clear until later in the week.
