North Texans can expect to see two rounds of thunderstorms Friday afternoon, some of them severe, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

There is a 100% chance of rain with one half to one inch predicted for Fort Worth and Dallas.

Sarah Barnes, a spokesperson for the National Weather Service, said a line of showers or thunderstorms will start developing along the Interstate 35 corridor or a little farther west around 1 or 2 p.m. The storms are expected to intensify as they move east, carrying the possibility for all types of severe weather.

Another line of storms is expected late afternoon and will continue into the evening. Barnes said the greatest concern for the Metroplex will be damaging winds, which could be more than 60 mph. There may also be large hail and some tornadoes, especially along Interstate 35.

The Friday afternoon high will be in the upper 70s with temperatures dropping into the 40s during the night.
