It’s true.

There’s a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in Tarrant County and North Texas on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

And guess what, some light showers fell in north Tarrant County on Thursday morning.

The increasing clouds on Thursday will keep high temperatures lower than they were in the past few days. The high temperature on Thursday will be about 100.

“The afternoon probability is not big, but we definitely have a chance of rain,” said meteorologist Juan Hernandez with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth on Thursday. “The storms could be fairly small, and they will not be widespread.”

Rain chances will return Thursday afternoon, and most of the storms will be near and north of Interstate 20, which may not help with wildfires burning farther south. Damaging microbust winds and frequent lightning will be possible with the strongest storms.

There is a 20 percent chance of storms on Friday, with the best chances in East Texas. A few storms may generate strong wind gusts and frequent lightning. Daytime temperatures on Friday should be at 100.
