A cooldown, albeit to the upper 90s, is in the offing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Until the slight temperature relief begins on Wednesday, triple-digit heat will continue on Monday and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The middle and end of the week will be “not much cooler,” and somewhat humid, said Matt Bishop, a meteorologist at the weather service office in Fort Worth.

The heat is the result of a strong upper-level high-pressure system, Bishop said.

Temperatures Monday to Saturday will be above normal, although not as hot as the weekend.

The record high for Sunday as recorded at DFW Airport was 103 degrees, set in 1953. As of 4 p.m., the high temperature recorded at the airport was 101 degrees.

Monday is forecast to be sunny and hot, with a high temperature near 103 degrees. Monday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 78, the weather service said.

Tuesday will be sunny and hot, with a high near 99. Tuesday night is forecast to be partly cloudy, with a low around 77.

Wednesday is forecast to be mostly sunny, with a high near 98. Wednesday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 79.
