A flash flood warning has been issued for parts of Tarrant County, with rain in some areas totaling almost four inches.

Two to three inches of rain have already fallen since the downpour started around 6:30 p.m. Friday, with another up to two inches expected before storms pass, according the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

Cities that could see flash flooding, according to the National Weather Service, include:

  • Fort Worth,
  • Arlington,
  • Mansfield,
  • Euless,
  • Bedford,
  • Haltom City,
  • Hurst,
  • Burleson,
  • Watauga,
  • Colleyville,
  • Crowley,
  • Forest Hill,
  • Richland Hills,
  • Kennedale,
  • Everman,
  • Rendon,
  • North Richland Hills,
  • Edgecliff Village,

  • and Edgecliff.

Heavy rain could cause flooding for rivers, creeks, roads, urban areas, highway overpasses, underpasses and other areas that are low lying or have poor drainage.

Flash flooding can create dangers of drowning and of cars being swept away by floodwaters. An inch of moving water is enough to move some vehicles.

The flash flood warning is expected to end at 8:45 p.m. There’s also a flood advisory in effect until 9:15 p.m. with similar warnings.

The Fort Worth Fire Department said on Twitter it has responded to several calls for drivers stuck in high water on roadways in the city because of heavy rainfall.

The most recent locations for high water calls include:

  • 2600 block of Friarford Road
  • 9400 block of Trinity Boulevard
  • 2100 block of Handley Drive
  • Meacham Boulevard and Blue Mound Road
  • 6800 block of John T White Road

Arlington police said they were called to cordon off roads in the area of The Commons at Park Springs apartments due to flooding. The fire department had electricity to the apartment complex shut off.

Three vehicles were stalled in high water in the area, but police said there were no injuries and nobody was trapped. A wrecker was called to the scene to remove the vehicles and water now appears to be receding.

About 9 p.m., Arlington fire and rescue crews were searching for someone possibly lost in floodwaters in the area of Webb Ferrell Road and Hanrahan Court after receiving multiple calls for rescue, Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV reported.
