Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Parker, Hood, other counties in North Texas
A warm front is expected to bring thunderstorms to North Texas late Sunday, and multiple chances of rain are possible throughout the week.
A severe thunderstorm watch was issued at 8:25 p.m. for western portions of north and central Texas through 2 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service. Counties under the watch include Parker, Hood, Erath, Palo Pinto, Somervell and Jack.
Tarrant and Dallas counties are not yet listed under the watch.
High winds are possible in the watch area with possible gusts up to 70 mph, along with hail up to golf ball size and tornadoes.
Thunderstorms developed Sunday afternoon in far West Texas and have been tracking to the east through the evening. At 9 p.m., a line of storms extended from near Throckmorton south through Abilene and down to just northeast of San Angelo.
Multiple chances for rain and storms will continue throughout the week, according to the National Weather Service.
Strong to severe storms may be possible in North Texas late Wednesday into Thursday with hail and damaging winds.
Rain chances end Thursday.
