Easter Sunday storms are in the forecast in North Texas, weather service says
Easter weekend is going to be hot, humid and windy in North Texas this year as a cold front moves into the area, bringing storms east of Interstate 35.
“A couple of storms along and ahead of the cold front may become strong to severe [Saturday] afternoon and evening with hail and damaging winds possible. However, widespread severe weather is NOT expected,” the National Weather Service said. “In fact, most of the period will likely remain rain-free. The best chances for storms will be on Easter Sunday, as an upper level disturbance passes overhead. A strong storm or two will be possible during the afternoon and early evening hours.”
For Saturday, in the Fort Worth area, there was a 20% chance for showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. The chance for precipitation will drop to 10% by Sunday morning around 5 a.m.
A 30% chance for thunderstorms is expected between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday.
Temperatures throughout the weekend are expected to remain between lows in the 60s and highs in the 80s. Monday will be a little cooler, with the high dropping into the 70s, before climbing back into the 80s for the rest of the week.
