Dallas Stars legend Marty Turco skates the ice on North Texas neighborhood street
It has been 10 years since Marty Turco has been on the ice professionally.
But the Dallas Stars legend showed he still has exceptional core strength and agility on skates.
Turco took to the frozen streets near his Dallas home on Friday with a hockey stick and puck (or a ball) for a few laps. The former Stars goalie posted video of the moment on Twitter. KXAS/Ch. 5 reporter Meredith Land also posted video of Turco’s skate.
Despite a sunny midday reprieve slightly above freezing on Friday, temperatures in North Texas are expected to dip well below freezing again Friday evening and into Saturday afternoon. The deep freeze could potentially make traveling on North Texas roads even more dangerous Friday night than when the storm first hit the area late Wednesday and Thursday morning.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson urged residents to stay off the roads on Friday but amended his caution in response to Turco’s video in a post on social media.
“OK, revised guidance: Don’t risk going out on icy roads today *unless* you’re @DallasStars legend @mturco35,” Johnson posted on Twitter.
