Most North Texans make best of storm with sledding, hockey and snowball fights

This is more like it.

The deep freeze that rolled into North Texas late Wednesday night has brought less misery and more frivolity than the deadly week-long freeze that hit Texas nearly a year ago.

Instead of widespread power outages across North Texas — although there have been some isolated outages — most of people in the region have been able to ride out the freezing rain, sleet and snow Thursday morning in relative calm.

North Texas residents have posted videos and images of the storm, including sledding, snowball fights, street ice hockey, and pets discovering snow for the first time.

Carrollton Police posted a satirical message of a snowball fight involving one of its officers. Southlake Police cautioned residents to stay off the roads with a comical post.

“Scene of snowball fight is now secure. No injuries or arrests. Hot cocoa now underway. No additional details at this time,” Carrollton Police posted on Instagram.
