Severe weather coming to North Texas Sunday evening, sticking around throughout week
North Texas could be in for severe weather Sunday evening and overnight into Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. The service warned of possible damaging wind gusts, tornadoes and large hail Sunday and said rain could stick around into the week.
Severe weather is expected to hit North Texas around 7 p.m. and find its way to Fort Worth and Dallas around 9 p.m. Sunday.
Severe weather should be expected to stick around in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex until around midnight, when it will move into East Texas.
Winds throughout the day are expected to reach up to 25 miles per hour, with occasional gusts of up to 30 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service described weather heading into the week as “unsettled,” bringing in scattered showers and strong thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday with heavy rain Thursday and Friday. These storms should usher in cooler weather for the coming weekend.
